Graham Greene
Arguably the most fascinating character in Graham Greene’s Getting to Know the General: The Story of an Involvement is not the General himself but Sergeant Chuchú , alias José de Jesús Martínez, ex-Professor of Marxist Philosophy at Panama University and, er, poet and pilot ete! Chuchú also happened to write his own memoir of General Omar Torrijos Herrera and long time Friend of the Graham Greene Birthplace Trust, Dr. Ramon Rami-Porta has read the Spanish-language text and has produced a very useful and interesting summary of the cross-references to Greene in the book.
