We sadly record the death of Emeritus Professor Cedric Watts of the University of Sussex aged 85 after a long illness.

Cedric was a regular speaker at the Graham Greene International Festival contributing no fewer than seven times between 1999 and 2016. Those who remember listening to him will recall that he invariably delivered in a quirky, humorous style underpinned with an acute intelligence and perception about his subject. His written work includes the classic A Preface to Greene London: Routledge, 2000), a must-read for those who want to  grow their understanding of this author.
