We are delighted to announce, at last, the confirmed dates for the 2021 Graham Greene International Festival. It will take place in Berkhamsted from Thursday 30 September to Sunday 3 October. The full programme for this four day event will be published on this website shortly and copies will be sent to all Friends of the Graham Greene Birthplace Trust.
If you don’t already know, the Director this year is Mike Hill, a name very familiar to regular attenders at this event. The Festival is invariably popular with a wide range of visitors both from this country and across the world. You are encouraged to book early and announcements about ticketing, which can be accessed from this website, will be made in due course. Please remember that Friends of the Trust will be entitled to discounts on purchases.
This year’s dates are special as we will be able to make the traditional Birthday toast to Graham Greene on his exact birth date – Saturday 2 October. This will take place in the historic Deans Hall, the very heart of the school, which has been spectacularly refurbished and upgraded. We do hope to attract many new visitors to a festival which prides itself on the warm welcome it gives to those with an interest in or curiosity about this writer. Berkhamsted and Berkhamsted School (Greene’s home as well as his place of education) made a lasting impression on this writer and left an indelible mark on his personality which is evident in much of what he wrote.
We do hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a fascinating four-day event in the calendar.
