We regret to announce the passing of Roger Watkins who, along with the late Ken Sherwood and David Pearce, helped to establish The Graham Greene Birthplace Trust in 1997. Roger was also the Trust’s first Festival Director and was responsible for the format and style of the yearly event which has survived to this day. He will be remembered among other achievements for organising the first and only performance of an otherwise “lost play” by Graham Greene – a rehearsed reading of A House of Reputation took place in Deans Hall, Berkhamsted School, during the 2000 Festival. The event even made the national news (‘Premiere for Greene’s unknown brothel play’, Independent, 10 September 2000 ).
Our condolences go to all of Roger’s family and friends.
