The 2026 Graham Greene International Festival – 24-27 September

First launched in 1998, the Graham Greene International Festival is held each autumn close to Greene’s birthday, 2 October (1904). The Festival takes place in Berkhamsted, Greene’s birthplace in Hertfordshire, just 30 minutes by train from London’s Euston station.

Across four days, Greene’s life and work is celebrated in a warm, welcoming and inclusive event. Speakers range from famous Greene admirers to film-makers, artists, publishers, scholars, young researchers and straightforward fans and admirers.

The 2026 Festival – the 27th – takes place from Thursday 24 September to Sunday 27 September with the full programme of events and booking details coming in May.

Festival 2026 confirmed speakers!

Although we won’t be announcing the full programme until May we are very excited about the line-up of brilliant speakers that is already emerging so for a sneak preview of who will be joining us in September just follow the link below.

Plan your visit to the 2026 Festival

We are still fine-tuning the programme for our 27th Festival – 24th to 27th September 2026 – and plan to publish the full list of speakers and events in May.

As soon as our programme is confirmed you will be able to book tickets – for the whole event, specific days, or individual sessions – via our online system

Berkhamsted is a wonderful destination for a “getaway” so here are some accommodation options in Greene’s home-town.

All Festival sessions are held centrally in Berkhamsted – notably the Town Hall and Berkhamsted School.
